    Burnbanks project

    Equipment list

This page describes the equipment and other resources used.

    Archive

The archive is based in the office in the small hall at Bampton Memorial Hall. We have two lockable filing cabinets in there. The project laptop computer is normally kept there.

Other records are kept currently at members' houses.

Photographs are taken using members' own cameras.

    Computers and Internet

The laptop computer was purchased in January 2004 and consists of the following:
    • Sony Viao FR105M
    • Windows XP and Office 2003
    • 64MB USB memory pen drive
    • CD writer
    • Scanner: EPSON Perfection 1670 Photo
We are currently trying to decide how to store and log our computer information. We have a prototype Access database. This cannot be used directly on a web site (or CD). However the Access database can be queried on a web site using scripts. We are also looking at another search solution that works on local disk and CD.

The domain name is registered and the web site is hosted by www.1and1.co.uk using a 1&1 Home Package.

We are funding a telephone line installed to the small hall office. Planning and logistic considerations have delayed the installation but we hope that this will be achieved during June/July 2004.

We are funding a BT Business Connect "Anytime" Internet connection for the project. An "anytime" connection does not incur any call charges (within certain limits) so the laptop can be used freely to connect to the Internet from the hall or elsewhere, eg from home telephone lines.

The Internet connection will normally be used by the project laptop computer. However while not in use on the laptop, we have agreed that this connection can be used by the other computers in the small hall office.
